Jesus is my King
"The Lord shall be King over all the earth…And He will judge the world in righteousness" (Zechariah 14:9, Psalm 9:8).
As seen in my visual representation or image of Jesus, Jesus is King. In the image, Jesus is sitting on a throne is a castle. He is coloured yellow to symbolise His holiness and how bright He would be to the human eye. He does not have a face, as I do not truly know what He would have looked like during biblical times. Christ is wearing a crown of thorns in replacement of a kings crown, as He wore this at the crucifixion. I have created this image to portray Jesus as a king. He alone, is my King ,is seated on the right hand of the Father and is exalted.
Although, Jesus may not have been a wordly king during his time on earth and He rejected the title of being the King of Jews in front of Pilate, He is my King and the King of my soul. He is constantly referred to as the King of Kings and The Lord of Lords in the bible, and to me, that is exactly what He is. In Daniel 2:44-:45, God is said to soon set up an eternal kingdom, that cannot be destroyed and will not be left to another person. The kingdom will crush all other kingdoms and bring them to an end. Like all kingdoms, there must be a ruler: a king. Jesus, God's son, is the king of the everlasting kingdom as it is said that his reign will last forever. In Luke 1: it says " But the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.’" According to the bible, Jesus is King.
Not only do I believe he is king because of the bible, but I view him as my king because he is what defines a king. The worldly definition of king is 'the male ruler of an independent state, especially one who inherits the position by right of birth'. Jesus is lord of all, meaning he rules over me. Once I believed that He saved me, He became my lord, meaning I belong to Him. He inherited the title of King as he was not from man but from God. He is king by birth and by what he does. Jesus Christ is king in heaven and by blood as he descends from king David. Although people rejected him as king, God exalted him to his rightful place of power and majesty.
I have also portrayed Jesus as a king due to my experience with Him. Since the age of 1, I have been in a born-again christian church known as 'Jesus Is Lord (J.I.L). I would go to Sunday School every Sunday and would learn of Jesus and his importance. At the age of 11, I was in my church's youth which is known as 'Christian Youth for the Nations (CYN)', also known as Wildfire and have been learning what it means to follow Christ. Overtime, my relationship with Jesus has become stronger and I have learnt what it truly means to say 'Jesus is Lord'. I have given my all to Him and he has become my King. This is similar to how a peasant would view the king of Europe.
